Richaun Holmes – Sacramento Kings

Unlike Muscala who is more of a perimeter-oriented big man, Richaun Holmes is your classic bruiser in the paint. Coming off of the best season of his NBA career with the Sacramento Kings, a season in which he averaged 12.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and shot 64.8% from the floor, Holmes can be a big factor for the Wizards in the paint and help them a lot in rebounding, something they have been bottom of the league in for years.

The Wizards finished 28th in the NBA last season in total rebounds per game and 28th in defensive rebounds per game. A lot factors into the rebounding statistics for the season, but if you take Richaun Holmes 8.1 rebounds per game and add it to the Wizards per game totals from a season ago, the addition of Holmes for Washington would hypothetically make them the second-best rebounding team in the league behind the Milwaukee Bucks based on the last year’s stats.

It is really far-fetched to look at Holmes’ impact with the Wizards, if they were to acquire him, from this perspective, but it gives a sense of what he could bring to the table. He only played in 44 games last season due to a shoulder injury, but his 2.9 offensive rebounds per game would have ranked him 10th in the league in offensive rebounding a season ago.

Not only can Richaun Holmes out-muscle his defenders in the paint and score at the rim, but he is more than capable of being one of the better rebounders in the league and give Westbrook and Beal numerous second-chances on the offensive glass. With the Kings signing both Hassan Whiteside and Frank Kaminsky this offseason, they may be willing to listen to offers for the 27-year old center and the Wizards may be able to sneak in and acquire him for a low price.
