Myles Turner – Indiana Pacers

Bradley Beal has made it clear to the Washington Wizards that he wants to win now and by acquiring Russell Westbrook they are heading in the right direction. Russell Westbrook is now 32-years old and will soon be on the declining end of his career, which means if the Wizards are to go all-in and try to win an NBA championship, they need to acquire a big-time center.

With guys like Joel Embiid and Rudy Gobert like off-the-market, Myles Turner is the next name that comes to mind that could be available. Not only is Turner one of the top defensive big men in the league, leading the league in blocks during the 2018-19 season, but he has all the makings of being a great offensive player as well. Turner can knock down shots from the perimeter in volume, as he has shot 35.7% from deep over the course of his five years of NBA experience, and is a threat to score in the low-post.

Paired up with Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal, the Washington Wizards would not only be a top threat in the Eastern Conference, but could be considered a championship contender. They would have the star-power in Westbrook and Beal as well as the contributing role players in Turner, Bertans and rookie Deni Avdija to be a great team for years to come.

Myles Turner is under contract for the next three seasons, with his contract worth over $50M and if the Wizards make this kind of investment, much like if they were willing to trade for Clint Capela, they would be solidifying themselves as going “all-in” with their current roster. The biggest question Wizards’ management needs to answer is whether or not they are willing to give up future draft assets to contend with Westbrook and Beal at the helm.

Seeing as they traded for Westbrook and gave up a future 1st round NBA Draft pick to get him, it seems like the Wizards are going to do what they can to build this team into a championship contender, which would make sense for Washington to target one of the biggest names on the trade market in Myles Turner.
