Mike Muscala – Oklahoma City Thunder

While his stats will not blow you away, Mike Muscala is a very efficient player and has been a part of some really good winning organizations over the course of his seven year career. In 47 games with the Thunder last season, Muscala averaged 4.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and shot 40.7% from the floor. He is not much of a rebounder, but the best part of his game, which he would do great next to Beal and Westbrook, is his three-point shooting.

Over the course of his career, Mike Muscala has shot 36.8% from three-point range, and coming off his best three-point shooting year since the 2016-17 NBA season, he can still contribute to a team in need of outside shooting. Last season, the Wizards ranked 17th in the league in three-pointers made per game thanks to Bradley Beal and Davis Bertans, but the addition of Westbrook does not help this cause.

Russell Westbrook is not really someone that draws attention from other teams beyond the arc anymore. He has shot under 30% from three-point range in five of the last six NBA seasons and is more of a guy who can find his teammates on the wing for open shots rather than taking them. With Bradley Beal and Davis Bertans as legit scoring threats from the perimeter, adding Mike Muscala as a stretch big man could really prove useful to the Wizards.

The Washington Wizards’ frontcourt is extremely young, which is why adding a veteran center like Muscala makes sense. He can not only be a voice for some of the younger guys, but lead them through example and possibly help them develop into more of a perimeter threat as well. Mike Muscala would be a great player for the Wizards to bring off of the bench and with his shooting abilities, could open up the court a lot for Russell Westbrook to do what he does best and play one-on-one with his defenders.
