Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert was involved in an ugly scene early in the 2023-24 NBA regular season. In a matchup with the Golden State Warriors, he was put in a headlock by Draymond Green has emotions flared in a dustup between the teams.

The NBA handed Green a suspension for his actions, which was rightfully deserved. Gobert is now looking to the league to hand out discipline to another player whom he had a run-in with over the weekend.

The Timberwolves hosted the Chicago Bulls on Sunday in a game they lost 109-101. It was yet another tough loss for a Minnesota team that has fallen in the standings without Karl-Anthony Towns in the lineup. But, the loss wasn’t what had Gobert peeved.

In a video shared, Alex Caruso hits Gobert hard on an attempted box out as the shot clock is expring. It was something Gobert took exception to, as he flung Caruso after banging into him. Via Basket-Infos in X, Gobert is calling for the NBA to discipline Caruso for his actions.

It translates to, “If they don’t hold the players accountable, I’m going to hold them accountable myself.”

Rudy Gobert did not at all appreciate this gesture from Alex Caruso on a rebound fight.

“I injured my knee a few years ago on the same action and I missed a month of competition because someone ran into my knee like that. I hope they look into it on the issue, because if they don’t hold the players accountable, I’m going to hold them accountable myself.”

Gobert, who is listed at 7’1”, was being run into by Caruso, who is listed at 6’5”. Caruso is a hard-nosed player who gives maximum effort on the court and likely means no malice on the play; he is just attempting to box out a much bigger opponent.

But, it is easy to see why Gobert would be peeved at the play. As you can see in the video, the lights are illuminated on the backboard, meaning the play is over. Getting run into in that fashion on what was a dead ball would irk any player, especially when an injury to the lower body could occur.

Gobert was lucky that his right leg was not planted, otherwise, he could have been seriously hurt given the angle at which Caruso banged into him. As he noted, he has been injured on similar actions and would like to see the NBA discipline Caruso in some fashion otherwise he will take matters into his own hands.
