Does this trade make sense for the New York Knicks?
It goes without saying that it would be a dream scenario for the New York Knicks to get one of the big-name guards in free agency or on the trade market. But what happens if they come out of free agency empty-handed and they still have a need at point guard.
A trade for Walker may be a contingency plan for New York if everything else doesn’t fall into place. Tom Thibodeau likely wants a point guard that can orchestrate the offense and excel alongside RJ Barrett and Randle.
Walker would immediately become a go-to scoring option on the Knicks and he’d be a much-needed leader in the locker room.
As previously mentioned, New York can fit Walker’s contract with ease as they have a boatload of cap space at their disposal this summer. But would acquiring Walker really move the needle further in the right direction for the Knicks?
Maybe slightly, which could be enough for a team like New York to pull the trigger. This potential trade would come down to whether or not the Knicks are prepared to part ways with Toppin already.

Seeing that Toppin and Knox don’t have definitive roles for the future, New York would probably consider this trade for Walker if it presented itself.
