Does this trade make sense for the Oklahoma City Thunder?
If Kemba Walker isn’t interested in serving in a mentor and leadership role next season for the Thunder, then Oklahoma City has no choice but to offload his contract elsewhere.
Having a player with an expensive contract that doesn’t want to play for them seems far from ideal for a team like the Thunder that wants to begin making progress in the win department.
So if Walker requests a trade, Oklahoma City would be wise to get whatever they can for the experienced point guard. Walker’s trade value isn’t what it once was as he’s dealt with injuries in recent years and his pricey contract isn’t exactly something that teams are clamoring to take in.
That being said, a team like the Knicks could be desperate enough to make a move for Walker if they’re unable to get one of the free-agent guards they are targeting.
