The Rockets finished with the worst record at 17-55 in 2020-2021, giving them the best chance to secure the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Houston in total has three first-round picks, which could allow them to add multiple franchise players this offseason through the draft. Besides their hopes of finding at least one star in the draft, the Rockets should be stockpiling young players that have potential to blossom into a star. That is where Sexton makes sense for Houston.

It remains to be seen what Wall’s future with the team looks like, but it’s tough to believe that he’ll want to stick around for a complete rebuild. At the least, if the Rockets aren’t pleased with Sexton’s development, he can be a trade asset for the future.
