San Antonio Spurs
For the first in their franchise’s history, the San Antonio Spurs fell short of reaching the playoffs for the second straight year this season. The Spurs had an opportunity to sneak into the postseason via the play-in tournament, only to be defeated by the Memphis Grizzlies. It’s evident that there could be a roster turnover for Greg Popovich’s squad this offseason.

DeMar DeRozan is a free agent, and given the makeup of the team, it’s hard to see San Antonio making a hard push to keep him around. At the same time, DeRozan seems prepared to continue his career elsewhere after being dealt to the Spurs in the Kawhi Leonard trade a couple of years ago. DeRozan should draw a decent amount of interest on the open market.
To replace DeRozan, the Spurs could make a move for Sexton, giving them a much-needed boost on the offensive end of the floor. Pairing Sexton with Dejounte Murray in the backcourt could pay dividends for San Antonio.
If there’s a coach that could help Sexton reach his full potential, it’s Popovich. Besides Murray and Sexton, having Derrick White and Lonnie Walker would give the Spurs a youthful backcourt with loads of potential.
