The Cleveland Cavaliers will have some decisions to make this NBA offseason. Coming off of a 21-51 season, they will have to evaluate which players they want to build around long-term. Among them will be Collin Sexton, who will be eligible for a contract extension this offseason.
Center Jarrett Allen, who was acquired in the four-team James Harden blockbuster deal, is expected to be offered at least $100 million this offseason. If that occurs, the team will then have a difficult decision to make when it comes to point guard, Collin Sexton.

Sexton has been dragged through the mud multiple times since being selected by the Cavaliers eighth overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. Veteran players have anonymously bashed him on numerous occasions, but Sexton has not let it deter him.
For the third consecutive season, Sexton has taken a jump forward with his production. He averaged 24.3 points, 4.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game. While he may not be a prototypical lead point guard that will always facilitate the offense, those kinds of numbers are not easy to come by.
While production of that level is something you would assume Cleveland wants to lock up long-term, they are stuck in a quagmire. Following Sexton, Darius Garland will be up for an extension as well. Does Cleveland want to become hamstrung handing out multiple $100 million+ contracts to Allen and Sexton?

It is something they will have to think long and hard about, which is why some people believe Sexton could be on the move this offseason. Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer believes the Cavaliers could explore the trade market for Sexton as early as this offseason if they believe Garland, Isaac Okoro and Allen are the trio they should build around.
If that is the case, Koby Altman and company should be able to receive a solid package in return for the former Crimson Tide guard. Cleveland still has time to sort through their options, as Sexton isn’t a restricted free agent until 2022.
