Spencer Dinwiddie – Brooklyn Nets

While he is out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury, the Brooklyn Nets have shown interest in trading Spencer Dinwiddie in order to use the $11.4M he is owed this year on a player that can help them potentially win a championship. As a result, several teams have expressed interest in Dinwiddie, the Chicago Bulls being one of those teams.

According to Shams Charania of the Athletic, the Bulls, Raptors, Pistons and Heat have all expressed interest in Spencer Dinwiddie and are interested in signing him to a long-term deal. For Chicago, this move makes sense because of their lack of talent in the backcourt and their need for a true point guard.

As mentioned before, Coby White is a solid young player, but does not have what it takes to be the point guard of the Bulls and help lead them to the playoffs. He can be a great combo-guard and backup guard, but he cannot be the future of their point guard position with LaVine at shooting guard.

Spencer Dinwiddie was the leader of the Brooklyn Nets last season with KD and Kyrie out and had a terrific year, averaging 20.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists and shooting 41.5% from the floor.

He is the high-level guard that the Bulls need to pair with LaVine for future success and they should be willing to commit to him long-term since they do not have any chance of competing for a title this year. While they could potentially make the playoffs, Chicago is not going to make a deep playoff run with their current roster, which is why they need to add more talent to help them with the future.

Not only could he be one of their better players next year, but having a strong backcourt combo of Spencer Dinwiddie and Zach LaVine sets the Bulls up for a lot of success and allows them to focus on continuing to develop their young core and their frontcourt.

Adding Spencer Dinwiddie at the NBA trade deadline would definitely bring a ton of value to the Chicago Bulls as they continue to find ways to better themselves for the future.
