Donovan Mitchell
Despite trading Royce O’Neale and Rudy Gobert, the Utah Jazz originally didn’t have plans to embark on a full rebuild. They weren’t even taking calls on Donovan Mitchell as they wanted to rebuild the roster around him. But, something occurred and they changed their mind.
The Jazz were now open to taking trade calls on Mitchell and it was also reported that they were open to trading other veterans on the roster. Mitchell, however, is garnering all of the headlines, which isn’t surprising.
He is a 25-year-old, three-time All-Star that has proven he can carry a team. The Jazz are looking for a monster trade package in return for him, as the Gobert deal is the minimum that they are looking to get back.
One team has emerged above the rest and that is the New York Knicks. If Mitchell is going to be traded, it will be to his hometown team in the Big Apple. While Utah will canvas the league and see what else is out there, the Knicks can present them with the best package based on what they are seeking.

New York has eight draft picks that can be traded, as they own all of theirs while possessing three extra ones in 2023 and one extra in 2025. A young group of players including Obi Toppin, Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes and Deuce McBride could be used as well to build a package.
Evan Fournier and Julius Randle are the two players that could be used to help match salary, as one of them will likely have to be included in the deal. After weeks of going back and forth, a deal will eventually be made that includes two of the aforementioned young players and five draft picks.
