Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant’s trade request is something that surprised a lot of people. It put the basketball world on its head as no one really saw it coming. To this day, no one is truly sure what prompted the decision as Durant hasn’t talked about it publicly. Even the Nets don’t know what led to him asking for a trade.
But, the request has been made and the Nets are seeing what kind of deals are out there. Thus far, the proposals haven’t been too strong. They are looking for a lot, as evident by the reported deal they asked the Minnesota Timberwolves about which was Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns and draft picks for Durant.
The Timberwolves declined that, which isn’t surprising. There have been a few teams mentioned as potential landing spots, such as the Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors. All in all, at least half of the league has reached out to the Nets already.
There likely isn’t a team that can make a deal for Durant on their own. A third or potentially fourth team is going to have to get involved, which further complicates what was already going to be drawn out, complex negotiations.

Ultimately, it seems likely to be the Heat who end up making a deal for him. Pat Riley is relentless when chasing stars and Miami is reportedly the most determined team to make a deal. He will find the extra pieces necessary to appease the Nets, bringing yet another superstar to South Beach to help push them toward a title.
