De’Aaron Fox

This would come as a bit of a surprise, but with the Sacramento Kings, anything is possible.

De’Aaron Fox has turned into one of the most explosive point guards in the league and is the centerpiece of the franchise. This season, Fox saw a dip in his numbers despite playing in one more game. This is something the Kings desperately need to build around after their 16th consecutive season without the playoffs.

Fox averaged 23.2 points per game this season, which was two less than last season. He also saw his assists and three-point numbers fall a bit. This is not a cause for concern, given his career production.

Fox is still extremely quick with the ball and has plenty of years left at 24 years old. The discussion is not whether Fox is capable of being a franchise player. It is whether or not the Kings want to go in this direction.

The NBA trade deadline saw the Kings unload Marvin Bagley III and Buddy Hield. Domantas Sabonis was acquired from the Indiana Pacers and this gave Sacramento a new duo.

Fox and Sabonis are an attractive pair, but the Kings could decide to get more assets for their point guard. If this happens, it would be a bit of a restart once again.

Sacramento needs to find the right head coach and then focus on putting the right talent on the floor. Fox looks the part but he could always be used as a massive trade piece.
