Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics may not have as ready-made a package to offer the Portland Trail Blazers as the Golden State Warriors do. Still, if they were able to land Lillard, it would make them a horrifying proposition for opposing NBA teams.
In fact, the Cs already are one. They were arguably the best team in the NBA from the All-Star break to the end of the 2021-22 season. They may well be hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy when the smoke clears this year. If they aren’t, adding Damian Lillard would almost certainly do the trick.
Again, making the deal could be tricky. The Blazers would likely insist on the inclusion of Jaylen Brown. The Boston Celtics may well decline. They didn’t seem interested in trading him for James Harden, and Lillard is even older, and a little less effective than The Beard was at that time.
If a deal was to transpire without Brown’s inclusion, it would likely center around Robert Williams III and a metric ton of draft picks. The man they call Time Lord looks like he can be a defensive anchor for a team for a decade to come. At 24, he’d be a great addition to any rebuilding squad.

He’s still not enough to land Damian Lillard. The Boston Celtics would have to mortgage off their entire future in draft picks to land Dame without conceding Brown. Given the superteam they’d assemble in the process, it may well be worth it.
