Golden State Warriors
We can already hear the protests. How will Steph Curry and Damian Lillard co-exist? If we had to guess, the answer is “very comfortably”.
In today’s positionless league, designations like “point guard” have become increasingly meaningless. What teams value today are skill sets, and how they mesh. Two primary options can co-exist in a backcourt so long as at least one is a capable floor spacer for the other. Breaking news: both Curry and Lillard are capable floor spacers.
That’s roughly the biggest understatement of the century. These 2 would form one of the most electrifying backcourt pairings in NBA history. Of course, Curry is accustomed to being part of one of those. What happens to his brother-in-splash if the Golden State Warriors acquire Lillard?
We wouldn’t worry about it. Thompson’s game is entirely portable. He can easily shift to the small forward position. He’s a superb perimeter defender, and at 6’6, he’ll be able to handle most of the league’s wings. Having All-World defender Draymond Green alongside him at the other forward spot won’t hurt either.

The Golden State Warriors have the pieces to make this nightmare a reality. If the relationship between Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers did finally dissolve, a combination of Andrew Wiggins’ contract, Jonathan Kuminga, James Wiseman, Moses Moody, and/or draft picks would have to entice the Blazers.
