Canada Vaccination Rules
The last two seasons have been a roller coaster ride for NBA teams given the COVID-19 pandemic. They ended the 2020 season in the Orlando Bubble and almost all of the 2020-21 season was played without fans in the arenas.
This season, fans returned but there were some obstacles for teams and players to overcome. Each city had different mandates when it came to vaccines, which is why Kyrie Irving was ineligible for a majority of the season.
One thing that could have a major impact on the postseason is the vaccine mandates in Canada. If you are unvaccinated, you are not allowed into the country. That gives the Toronto Raptors, the only team to call Canada home, a distinct advantage in the postseason.
Their first-round opponent, the Philadelphia 76ers, will be without ace defender Matisse Thybulle, as he was deemed ineligible to play in Toronto. He is not the only unvaccinated player in the postseason, as other teams could be shorthanded for three games against the Raptors.
