The Indianapolis Police Department has initiated an investigation into an incident involving an NBA player and a citizen at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on the night of the Milwaukee Bucks’ season-ending loss to the Indiana Pacers.
According to a police news release, detectives investigate the situation and take all accusations seriously. Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the case will be presented to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident in question occurred during the final minutes of the game, when Patrick Beverley threw a ball at a fan in the stands.

Cameras captured Beverley sitting on the bench, tossing the ball into the crowd, and hitting a fan in the head. After a different fan threw the ball back to Beverley, he fired it back at the spectator.
Beverley has since addressed the incident on his podcast, “The Pat Bev Podcast,” stating that while he was called derogatory, his actions were “still inexcusable.” He expressed remorse and vowed to be better in the future.
“I will be better. I have to be better, and I will be better. That should have never happened. Regardless of what was said, that should have never happened. Simple as that,” Beverley said.
