How This Trade Impacts Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers hired Rick Carlisle with hopes that he would help turn things around. The talent on the roster is solid, but they could not get positive results consistently. This season, it has been much of the same.
For a while, people have wondered when the Pacers would shake things up and it sounds like they are ready to do so. Myles Turner is one of the players that could be on the move, and this deal with the Dallas Mavericks sends him out of town.
While the package seems a little underwhelming, they are getting someone in Dorian Finney-Smith that Carlisle likes a lot. He is scoring a career-high 10.5 points per game and is a solid 3-point shooter.
Finney-Smith could step right into the starting power forward spot but is versatile to fill numerous positions in the lineup. He can play small forward as well and is a plus defender, something Indiana could use more of.

Josh Green hasn’t received consistent playing time with the Mavericks but could find his way into the Pacers’ rotation. If Caris LeVert, Justin Holiday or Jeremy Lamb are traded, Green could find himself looking at a significant role.
Dwight Powell is a solid veteran who is included mostly to help match salary. But, he can play a serviceable role in the rotation as he gets the job done on both ends of the court. He will help soak up Turner’s minutes in the middle.
