Does this trade make sense for the Utah Jazz?
The Utah Jazz are a great team as it is, but they could use a little bit more depth. Josh Richardson is a really solid pick-up for them on the wing and Dennis Schroder could provide depth with Jordan Clarkson in the backcourt, but it is hard to envision that this trade would work out in favor of the Jazz.
Richardson just signed a contract extension with the Celtics, so he is under contract through next season and while Schroder is in the final year of his deal, his fit in Utah is definitely questionable.
Having Dennis Schroder as a back-up option behind Mike Conley is certainly appealing, but his arrival would also mean that Jordan Clarkson’s minutes would decline. Clarkson was the NBA’s Sixth-Man of the Year last season, so this is something Utah probably does not want to fool around with.
Josh Richardson’s fit with this team definitely makes sense, even though he would cost them quite a bit, but they really do not have a need for Dennis Schroder. Joe Ingles is the veteran leader of this team and getting rid of him could really throw off the chemistry this group has built, specifically in the locker room.

From a pure-talent standpoint, this trade definitely makes sense for the Jazz and gives them a little more depth to contend for a championship right away, but it may not be the smartest move to trade away Ingles.
