The additions of Dennis Schroder and Josh Richardson seemed big at the time for the Boston Celtics this past offseason, but neither player has really helped them improve much.

The Celtics are just 19-21 overall this season and while a lot of that has to do with the fact that both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have missed time, this team is still nowhere close to being a real title threat with them.

Tatum and Brown are fantastic players, but they need the necessary pieces around them in order for this team to be as great as they can be. Dennis Schroder and Josh Richardson have not been the reason the Celtics have been bad this season, but they have both been inconsistent at times off-the-bench.

Boston signed Schroder in the offseason to a one-year, $5.9M deal with the intention that they could flip him for value at the trade deadline. Well, now is their chance to do so!

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: 3 Trade Targets For Utah Jazz To Bolster Title Chances

The Jazz are definitely title contenders in the Western Conference right now, but they are looking to make some additions to their roster ahead of the deadline.

The Athletic reported a few weeks back that they were looking for a wing defender and bringing in another back-up guard like Dennis Schroder has its advantages as well.

Josh Richardson is the epitome of a two-way wing in this league and with him shooting 40.8% from three-point range this season, he would fit right in with what the Jazz have built offensively over the years.

Utah would have to take on an extra $4.1M in salaries by making this trade, which pushes them deeper into the luxury tax bill, but these are moves that have to be made in order to contend for championships.

Maybe the Jazz could still crack through the Western Conference and make the NBA Finals with the roster that they currently have, but it is hard to pick them right now in a seven-game series against either Phoenix or Golden State. This trade at least helps make things a little more interesting and gives one of the strongest offensive teams in the league more depth to play around with.
