Does this trade make sense for the Toronto Raptors?
The answer to this question is that it really depends on what Masai Ujiri wants to do moving forward. Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet are great talents that have been proven players on a championship roster in 2019, but can they really get much better than they already are?
Both guys may very well be finished products of what they will be in this league, which is why the Toronto Raptors could look to enact a quick rebuilding process centered around some of the young talents on their roster.
In this case, OG Anunoby may be a player they look to keep, but Pascal Siakam could very well be on the table in trade scenarios at some point, making the Golden State Warriors again a potential trade suitor.
Toronto’s frontcourt has been a mess ever since Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol left and they are still searching for answers there this year. Precious Achiuwa is a young talent they can build with and so is Scottie Barnes, but Khem Birch may just be a “fill-in” option at the center position right now.

James Wiseman brings a lot to the table in terms of total potential and early on in his career, he has already been drawing comparisons to the likes of Raptors’ legend and Hall-of-Famer Chris Bosh. Just the thought of getting “Chris Bosh 2.0” should be intriguing enough for the Raptors to want to make a trade like this.
At the end of the day, Goran Dragic is a player they want to move, Chris Boucher is a bench player they could look to leverage since they have some younger frontcourt pieces in place and while OG Anunoby is valuable, he is very similar to Andrew Wiggins.
Toronto could replace Anunoby with Wiggins while upgrading their future frontcourt with Wiseman and getting an immediate first-round pick in the process.

This is not the best deal the Raptors could get for OG Anunoby at this point, but there is a lot of future value they can get from the Golden State Warriors in this trade. Toronto needs to make some kind of a move this season and it will most likely result in them doing some kind of a rebuild over the next year or so, which is why OG Anunoby is a valuable player who could be on the move.
