Dan Hurley isn’t merely banking on Purdue’s Zach Edey to excel solely in collegiate basketball; he’s eyeing a promising future for the towering center in the NBA as well.

In a recent exchange with FS1 personality Colin Cowherd concerning the 2024 NCAA Tournament, UConn’s head coach, Hurley, weighed in on the widespread chatter surrounding Edey.

Cowherd queried Hurley about the prevailing narrative encircling the Purdue standout.

“It’s a little sad,” Hurley said. “If Zach Edey is not, like, a lottery pick and, you know, a tremendous NBA player, then there’s something wrong with the NBA.”

Edey’s journey to the NBA Draft has ignited fervent debate among fans and pundits alike. While some ardently advocate for his seamless transition to the professional ranks, citing his imposing stature and polished skills, others remain skeptical about his compatibility with the demands of NBA play.

Yet, amidst this discourse, Edey’s performances in March Madness have been nothing short of spectacular. Averaging an impressive 30 points, 16 rebounds, and nearly two blocks per game, Edey has captured the attention of basketball enthusiasts worldwide.

With Purdue set to face off against NC State in the men’s Final Four, Edey has the opportunity to further solidify his status as a burgeoning force in both collegiate and prospective professional basketball circuits.

It will certainly be interesting to see what the future has in store for Zach Edey at the NBA level.
