Philadelphia 76ers Receive: F Jimmy Butler
Miami Heat Receive: G/F Ben Simmons, G Tyrese Maxey, No. 28 pick, 2023 first-round pick
Could the Philadelphia 76ers be interested in a reunion with Jimmy Butler? Philadelphia once had an All-Star lineup with the likes of Butler teamed up with Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Tobias Harris.
The 76ers decided to give Harris a huge contract and Butler ended up in Miami. Now, Butler could end up as part of the big three but it would be with just Embiid and Harris.
Simmons would be the centerpiece of this deal going back to Miami. They have been linked to some big-name point guards and Simmons could be the latest one. Tyrese Maxey along with the 28th-overall pick in this year’s draft and a 2023 first-round pick would round out the deal.
Some may question why the Heat would move on from Butler in a trade. When looking at the full context, there is a real case to be made. The team is coming off being swept in the first-round and face a need to overpay role players. Butler will be 32-years-old by the start of next season and is soon going to be paid a massive contract.
