Does this trade make sense for the Miami Heat?
It was an unimpressive season for the Miami Heat. They do not typically handle these situations well and that means Pat Riley could be aggressive in the offseason. Jimmy Butler has been moved around many times in his career and this could be another chance. That might not have been said two years ago but things change when a team goes through a year like this.
Miami looked for that next-level player at the top of the offense last year. They were unable to land one and Goran Dragic was brought back. This year, the Heat will go through the same process.
They have been linked to some names and Simmons could be the most-recent one. Simmons knows how to play with an impact performance in the frontcourt and this could benefit Miami and Bam Adebayo.
Maxey has turned into a fan favorite in Philly because he provides a spark off the bench and could do the same in Miami. If Duncan Robinson leaves in free agency, the Heat could look for some more three-point shooting. Well, even if he returns they’re going to need more, too.

Miami was expected to be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference this season but that was not the case. If they want to return, this could be a deal that helps them get back on top of their pedestal. Paying extreme money to keep this mediocre group together just isn’t wise.
