Bad Fit: Golden State Warriors

It has now been two straight years that the Golden State Warriors have failed to advance to the playoffs. Klay Thompson has been sidelined for two consecutive years, but he’s expected to return next season.

Upon Thompson’s return, Stephen Curry will finally have someone else that can demand the attention of the defense on the perimeter. At the same time, Draymond Green can go back to having his role of being an enforcer on the defensive end while facilitating on the offensive end.

Adding DeMar DeRozan would be a mistake for the Warriors as he wouldn’t be a viable fit in their floor-spacing offense. Green is already a forward that can be a playmaker for the other scorers on Golden State’s roster.

Having Green and DeRozan in the frontcourt seems like a nightmare for a team that predicates themselves on being able to score threes in bunches. While they would be improved in the fast break department, DeRozan would complicate things for the Warriors in their half-court sets.

Not to mention, the Warriors would need to conduct a sign-and-trade for DeRozan and they can get more than DeRozan for the packages they can offer.
