Lonzo Ball

It was only two years ago that the Los Angeles Lakers traded Lonzo Ball to the New Orleans Pelicans in the package that landed Anthony Davis in Hollywood. Now, as Ball enters restricted free agency, the Lakers are looking to get him back.

According to sources, the Lakers are interested in a reunion with the former No. 2 overall pick. They are expected to show interest in him, and it does make sense.

While far from a finished product, Ball has made great strides with the Pelicans. He worked tirelessly to fix his jump shot and all of that work is paying off. Ball shot 37.8 percent from the 3-point line and 78.1 percent from the foul line this season, huge improvements from the 31.5 and 43.7 percent he shot with the Lakers.

While his overall shooting percentage still isn’t great, as he made 41.4 percent of his shots this past season, it is nice to see him making improvements. His playmaking is still at a high level and his willingness and ability to adapt to a new role under Stan Van Gundy was season was encouraging.

Defensively, Ball still gets the job done. Given his size, at 6’6”, Ball is versatile on that end of the court as he can defend multiple positions. That gives Frank Vogel some options when it comes to setting his lineup.
