Spencer Dinwiddie

If the Los Angeles Lakers go the scoring guard route, Spencer Dinwiddie would present an excellent option. Dinwiddie tore his ACL after only three games this season but is expected to have a large contingency of teams pursuing him this offseason.

Dinwiddie improved every season that he spent with the Brooklyn Nets. It culminated in averaging 20.6 points during the 2019-20 season when he stepped up big time with Kevin Durant recovering from his injury and Kyrie Irving missing time as well.

While Dinwiddie wouldn’t solve the Lakers’ 3-point shooting woes, having a legitimate third option behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis would help the team’s offense. Too often last season the team couldn’t find that consistent third scorer and it hurt them in the long run.

The Lakers are one of the teams mentioned as a possible landing spot for him, as he either wants to return home to Los Angeles or land a big payday. While the Lakers cannot afford to sign him outright in free agency, a sign-and-trade could be in play here.

In that scenario, Dinwiddie would land the lucrative multi-year deal that he is seeking and he would return closer to him as he hopes for.
