The Los Angeles Lakers will have some big decisions to make this NBA offseason. Arguably the most question marks heading into things are at the point guard position.
Last season the Lakers had Dennis Schroder as their starting point guard. He did a solid job, averaging 15.4 points, 5.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. But, when the team needed him most, such as the playoffs with Anthony Davis sidelined, he came up short.
Schroder was offered a four-year extension worth north of $80 million but turned it down. If he is looking for an expanded playmaking role and more money, the Lakers might have to start figuring out some contingency plans.
Los Angeles’ need at the point guard spot is a unique case. Because LeBron James initiates so much of their offense, he almost always leads his teams in assists. That mitigates the need for true playmaking at the point guard spot.

Having James in the fold opens things up for the type of player they can pursue. Will they target a scoring guard that can help take pressure off of James and Davis to score? Or will it be a strong playmaker to help get them into positions for easy baskets?
Here are three options for the Lakers to fill their point guard position this offseason.
