Knicks’ Jalen Brunson Disrespected In Final MVP Ladder

Recently, one of the best players in the NBA has been New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson. He has been playing at an extremely high level, helping put New York in a position to possibly earn the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.

When Julius Randle and OG Anunoby both went out of the lineup following a victory over the Miami Heat on January 27th, no one could have seen this coming from the Knicks. They were banged up and missing their entire starting frontcourt with Mitchell Robinson already sidelined.

Luckily for them, they had a star in Brunson to keep the team afloat. He received some help along the way, as the supporting cast of Donte DiVincenzo, Josh Hart, Miles McBride, Isaiah Hartenstein and Precious Achiuwa really stepped up. But, without Brunson, none of this would be occurring.

Despite his heroics and otherworldly production on the court, Brunson still isn’t getting the respect he deserves. It took head coach Tom Thibodeau having an animated post-game press conference where he called out the NBA referees to see Brunson get the respect he has earned on the court.

NBA NEWS & SCORES: Jalen Brunson & New York Knicks Updates

Alas, the media and analysts who put together MVP rankings for the 2023-24 NBA season still haven’t caught one. In the last list released by NBA.com, via NBA Central on X, Brunson came in at No. 8 on the MVP ladder.

This is a step in the right direction for the Knicks star. He wasn’t on the list at all in the previous rankings, which was more of a travesty than this time around; at least he was listed albeit at No. 8.

It will be interesting to see where Brunson finishes once the voting is done and ballots are cast. A strong argument can be made that he should be inside at least the top five if not the top three when it is all said and done.

Every box that people use when making these rankings, Brunson checks. He is near the top of the league in scoring averaging a career-high 28.6 points per game. The Knicks are winning, as they have a shot at the No. 2 seed in the conference and are one victory away from locking in the No. 3 seed at the very least.

Coaches around the NBA and his peers have recognized how incredible Brunson has been. When will analysts and insiders who get votes on the awards start to realize and admit the same?
