Oklahoma City Thunder: Kemba Walker

It didn’t take long for the first trade of the of the offseason to transpire as the Boston Celtics traded Kemba Walker to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Even though Sam Presti has spoken highly of Walker since the Thunder acquired him, the veteran point guard could desire playing for a team in playoff contention.

If Walker refuses to play a single game for Oklahoma City, then trading Walker should be the main focus for the Thunder this offseason. That being said, finding a team that is willing to absorb the rest of Walker’s expensive contract could prove to be a challenge for Oklahoma City.

Phoenix Suns: Jevon Carter

Once free agency begins, the Phoenix Suns need to do everything they can to ensure that Chris Paul returns next season. While the Suns could make some upgrades to the roster this offseason, they don’t have many players that are worth trading. If I had to select one player they could afford to trade it’s Jevon Carter.

Carter has had a minimal role with Phoenix in his two years with the organization and he’s completely fallen out of the rotation this year due to Paul and Cameron Payne. Even with Carter not having much trade value, the Suns could look to include him a package that could land them a role player for next season.

Portland Trail Blazers: Derrick Jones Jr.

After a career year with the Miami Heat in 2019-2020, Derrick Jones Jr. signed a two-year, $18.9 million deal with the Portland Trail Blazers ahead of the 2020-2021 season. Jones would fail to live up to expectations for Portland this season, logging only 6.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game on 31.6 percent shooting from three-point range.

With the Trail Blazers looking to alter the roster this offseason, it would be ideal for them to move on from Jones. It should be noted that Jones has a player option this summer, which he’ll likely accept unless he gets whiff of certain teams that are willing to pay him over $10 million per season.
