Does this trade make sense for the LA Clippers?
The Los Angeles Clippers made some of the biggest splashes when they brought both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George to town. Year one was a complete disappointment and they looked like the better team in year two but were derailed by injuries.
It still seems unlikely that the Clippers decide to completely blow it up but if they do, Leonard will not be the one going away. Kawhi Leonard said that he will test the waters in free agency and opt out of his contract but that seems like a ploy to get a new deal from Los Angeles.
There was never any real belief from either side that he is interested in signing with another team. That might change if the Clippers decide to trade Paul George. Given how Leonard could be sidelined for much of the 2021-22 season, now would be an opportune time to do so.
They came together in hopes of bringing a championship to the Clippers and that has not happened just yet. This deal will give the team great depth next to Leonard. Michael Porter Jr. is a young blossoming star in the league that could be good for a long time.

Aaron Gordon and Monte Morris are other starting-caliber players that would be able to help with the Clippers. It will be interesting to see if Los Angeles ultimately blows it up and if they do, this could be one of the best deals in store.
