There are a lot of incredible players currently playing basketball in the NBA. In some instances, those players are on the same team and make for some remarkable duos for their respective franchises to build around.

In the current landscape of the NBA, having a strong one-two punch is imperative to finding success. Unless you have an elite culture and supporting cast around a single star player, contending teams have multiple high-level performers to rely on.

One of the teams who fit that bill is the Denver Nuggets. They have potential NBA MVP Nikola Jokic leading the way along with point guard Jamal Murray. While Murray hasn’t received the same accolades as some of his peers in the league, he is a talented offensive player who fits well alongside Jokic.

Murray and Jokic are one of the several dynamic duos that litter the league. However, in Murray’s opinion, none of the others quite stack up to him and Jokic. During a recent interview with Michael Scott of HoopsHype, Murray revealed that he believes Jokic and himself are the best duo in the NBA today.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets Updates

“If you want me to rank where I believe, I think we’re the best duo. I think they’re in a bigger market and people have more interest in LeBron and AD in LA, or what Dame and Giannis could be, or what Luka and Kyrie could do. If we’re talking about the best duos in getting the job done and how they play for each other and with each other, I think me and Jokic are undoubtedly number one,” Murray said to Scotto.

That is certainly a bold take from Murray, but his assessment isn’t far off. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are the only other pair that he mentioned who have what Jokic and Murray have; an NBA Championship.

While they aren’t garnering as many headlines as some of their counterparts, Murray and Jokic continue to get the job done on the court. The Nuggets finished tied for first in the Western Conference this season, losing out on the tiebreaker and getting the No. 2 seed behind the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Murray’s claim to being the best duo could certainly be put to the test during the 2024 NBA Playoffs. There is a chance they match up in the first round against James, Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers. A meeting with Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks could occur in the Western Conference Finals should both teams advance that far.
