4 bold predictions for San Antonio Spurs entering 2020-21 NBA season

It took 22 seasons to finally get them out of the playoffs, but it finally happened for the rest of the NBA. The San Antonio Spurs run of 22 consecutive playoff appearances was snapped this past season after the Spurs finished 32-39, just one game back from potentially being in the play-in game in the Western Conference.

This run by the San Antonio Spurs over the last two decades was one of the most impressive runs in professional sports as they won six Western Conference titles and five NBA championships. Since the late 90’s, the Spurs organization has been a dynasty and while it may seem like it has come to an end, the Spurs have a lot of young talent that could turn into another decade of winning.

DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge are still the two big names that highlight this Spurs organization, but young guys like Dejounte Murray, Derrick White, Lonnie Walker IV, Keldon Johnson and now first-round pick Devin Vassell are the future of this organization and will all play different roles for the Spurs this upcoming season.

While he is still under contract for this upcoming season as he is in the final year of his contract, DeMar DeRozan has been a name that has come up a lot this offseason in trade rumors and could be a guy the Spurs look to move on from near the trade deadline if things are not going well.

DeRozan’s value is still incredibly high and it may be worth it in the long-run for the Spurs to get more young talent and draft picks in exchange for the aging veteran forward.

Unlike most teams who fail to make the playoffs, the San Antonio Spurs are in a great position to start a new playoff streak and it could even happen this upcoming season. Here are 4 bold predictions for the San Antonio Spurs entering the 2020-21 NBA season.
