DeMar DeRozan Trade Coming For San Antonio Spurs?
Let’s start by saying DeMar DeRozan has a player option for the 2020-21 NBA season that will pay him $27.8 million. Even if he is indeed unhappy in San Antonio, he will pick up the option. This leaves him available for a trade and the Spurs could do this soon.
DeRozan was supposed to be the next franchise player when he was traded to the Spurs for Kawhi Leonard. This did not workout. The Spurs missed the playoffs for the first time in 22 years and they are looking to rebuild.
DeRozan can be on the move and there will be plenty of suitors. A reunion with the Toronto Raptors comes to mind along with the New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, or Miami Heat.
If there is one trade we would like to see, it might be DeRozan to the Los Angeles Lakers. The defending champs could look to add a third superstar and DeRozan could be that. The Lakers have expiring contracts of JaVale McGee, Danny Green, and Avery Bradley that could be included in the deal.
