A big name player is a free agent and that means one thing — the Knicks will be “in pursuit.” There are quotes because the Knicks have allegedly been after many star players and have yet to land any. Entering the offseason, the Knicks have a new head coach and a lot of options on how to improve the team.

The Knicks have been rumored to be willing to take on a big contract such as Chris Paul or Russell Westbrook. This is one way they could go. The other way is drafting a guard with the No. 8 pick. A smaller option could be signing Rondo to a free agent deal.

The Knicks have made plenty of bad moves over the last two decades but Rondo would not be one of them. New York has young players on their team with no leader and no clue how to run an offensive scheme in the NBA.

Rondo cannot single-handedly take the Knicks to the playoffs on his own but he would be a massive upgrade at the point guard position. This is something the Knicks have needed for quite some time.
