Los Angeles Clippers Receive: G Kyrie Irving 

The Clippers need an upgrade at point guard. They obviously know this. 

In all likelihood, that’s why they acquired Russell Westbrook from the buy-out market. Sure. With that said Westbrook is probably not the answer in 2023-24. 

Irving could be. His ability to shoot makes him an easier fit alongside Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. As long as this locker room can stay together, acquiring Irving should make the Clippers serious contenders. 

The return for Dallas here isn’t ideal. Unfortunately, it won’t be in any case. Sign-and-trade situations tend to favor the side acquiring the free agent – they don’t have to make the trade.

Still, this deal has Dallas picking up three useful rotation players.
