Raise your hand if Myles Turner’s midseason contract extension surprised you. If your hand is down – stop lying to us. The whole NBA world expected to see Turner get dealt at this year’s deadline.
That’s not because Turner’s not a good player. It’s for any other reason you could possibly think of.
He seems to have butted heads with the organization. They tried to replace him with Deandre Ayton. More broadly, Turner has been in trade conversations for years now.
Of course, it’s possible that the Pacers wanted to see how their season played out. They may also have simply not felt that they were going to get an offer that they liked.
Extending Turner doesn’t mean that they can’t move him this summer.
Here’s a deal that has them sending him to the Los Angeles Lakers.
