Of course, neither of these teams are stranger to the bottom. They were both there last season. 

That’s life during an NBA rebuild. Both of these teams had higher expectations heading into 2022-23 – or at least, their fans did. As it turns out, those expectations were misguided. 

The Pistons even acquired a veteran. It’s hard to explain their decision to acquire Bojan Bogdanovic unless this team thought they could take a step forward this season. 

The Rockets didn’t make any comparable acquisitions.

Still, the buzz around this team heading into the year was that they’d look better. They have not. That’s not a knock on either of these teams – development is simply a gradual process in the NBA.
