Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal
Realistically, this isn’t an optimal deal for the Warriors. At the same time, they’re not in an optimal situation.
We alluded to their upcoming financial crunch. It’s serious. Jordan Poole could receive a lucrative extension any day now. Andrew Wiggins is an unrestricted free agent next summer. Meanwhile, Green is soon due for his own extension – and apparently, he wants a big one.
From that perspective, Green may be the odd man out. Moreover, he may have made the Warriors’ decision easier by reportedly striking Poole in a recent practice. If you’ve got to choose someone to part with, you may choose the guy who just punched his teammate in the face.
If the Warriors do decide to shop Green, this would be a good return. Royce O’Neale isn’t on his level as a defender, but he is a far above-average one – and a better floor spacer as well.

Speaking of spacing, hardly anyone does it better than Joe Harris. Inserting his shooting into the Warriors’ system could be like throwing a stick of dynamite…into a pit full of dynamite.
Even if all good things come to an end, this deal could help the Warriors delay the inevitable.
