In theory, we could have had the Nets sending the Warriors Simmons. They probably would have gotten a pick back, too.
Some will suggest that Green and Simmons are a suboptimal pairing. In fairness, they are both playmaking, defensive-minded forwards who struggle with their jump shots. With that said, you can’t have too much defense or too much playmaking.
You can, of course, lack shooting. Still, Green has ample experience playing with non-shooters on the Warriors. It’s been suggested that the Nets ought to consider moving Simmons to the 5 anyway – this deal might necessitate the move.
With that said, Simmons and Green combined could make for one of the best defensive pairings in the history of the NBA.
