San Antonio Spurs Receive: G/F Evan Fournier, C Alex Len, F Chima Moneke, 2023 Second-Round Pick (NYK), 2023 Second-Round Pick (SAC)
Sacramento Kings Receive: G Derrick Rose, F Doug McDermott
New York Knicks Receive: F Harrison Barnes
These three squads may have vastly different histories, but as of this writing, they aren’t so different after all.
None of these three groups will win the NBA championship in 2022-23. Arguably, it’s crass to make such a sweeping statement. It happens to be one we’d bet a month’s wage on.
The Kings will try. At the same time, the more realistic goal for this organization is a playoff appearance. Seeing as they haven’t made one in an NBA-record 16 years, that would be an accomplishment.
On the other hand, it’s unclear what the Knicks’ goal will be next season. Their roster is a hodgepodge of veterans and prospects. They could make a surprise playoff appearance, but if they miss the postseason that won’t come as a shock either.
