Sacramento Kings
Sacramento Kings Receive: F/C John Collins
Atlanta Hawks Receive: F Harrison Barnes, C Alex Len, 2023 Second-Round Pick
The Sacramento Kings and Atlanta Hawks already completed one deal this offseason; could another one eventually be in the works? Sacramento made a big move to reshape their front office ahead of the trade deadline, acquiring Domantas Sabonis from the Indiana Pacers.
However, unlike in Indiana where he played power forward, Sabonis was manning the center spot with the Kings. If that is going to continue, Sacramento could certainly look for an upgrade at the power-forward spot alongside him.
John Collins would be a nice upgrade, giving the Kings another good building block for their future. Riding a 16-year playoff drought, Sacramento should be doing everything it can to add some talent to the roster.
Collins has already shown that he can perform at a near All-Star level, averaging 21.6 points and 10.1 rebounds per game during the 2019-20 season. He is an efficient offensive player with legitimate 3-point range, something that the Sacramento Kings could use more of with a starting five built around non-shooters in De’Aaron Fox and Sabonis.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: John Collins, Sacramento Kings & Atlanta Hawks Updates
For the Hawks, they are getting another versatile forward in Harrison Barnes to help compensate for Trae Young’s lack of impact defensively. Most importantly, he is on an expiring contract, helping Atlanta further clear their salary cap for the extensions they will be working out and paying in the near future.
Alex Len is also on an expiring deal and is used to help match salaries. A 2023 second-round pick is thrown in as Collins is the best player involved in the deal.
