Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
Before we explain why the Bulls should make this deal, let’s elaborate on why they shouldn’t do the rumoured LaVine deal.
Frankly, it’s a lateral move. Any team upgrading its roster is looking to take a step towards contention. We’ll grant that Davis, when healthy, is a more impactful player than LaVine. With that said, a core group of Davis, DeMar DeRozan and a decent supporting cast doesn’t seem likely to compete for an NBA title.
On the other hand, the Bulls could do exactly that following this deal. In fact, they have a particular need for Davis’ skillset. Last year, starting centre Nikola Vucevic’s questionable interior defence caused this group plenty of problems.
Vooch is a talented offensive player, but his abilities were minimized alongside LaVine and DeRozan. Even if Davis has the problem, at least he’s an elite defensive big when healthy.

Injuries have been a problem for him in recent years, but if he can bounce back next season, this could end up looking like a coup for the Bulls.
Could the Lakers even really entertain it?
