Utah Jazz Receive: G/F Jaylen Brown
Boston Celtics Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
In today’s NBA, the straight-up star-for-star swap is becoming increasingly uncommon.
It makes sense. As a general rule, a team trading a star is looking to rebuild. Rebuilding teams usually seek their next star player through the draft. Therefore, draft picks are typically what they’ll be looking for in exchange for their star.
We’ve seen this trend emerge over recent years. As a matter of fact, the Jazz are obviously aware of it. They already traded star big man Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves for, along with players, four unprotected first-round picks this summer.
With that in mind, many expect the Jazz to seek a similar package for Michell. In all likelihood, they will.
