How This Trade Impacts Miami Heat
The Miami Heat have a pretty sizable void to fill in their frontcourt. With P.J. Tucker leaving in free agency, declining his player option and signing with the Philadelphia 76ers, the Heat currently don’t have a starting power forward.
While Davis Bertans isn’t in the same stratosphere as Tucker defensively, he can provide a lot of spacing offensively. He can essentially take over the role that Duncan Robinson had, but it can come in the frontcourt, where they have minutes available.
Depending on the matchup, the Heat would have a diverse trio of players to deploy at power forward with Bertans, Caleb Martin and Haywood Highsmith. All have different skill sets that could prove useful depending on what their opponent is doing.
Losing Gabe Vincent would be a sizable blow, but the Heat could be banking on Nikola Jovic to be ready to contribute from Day 1. He has legitimate point-forward skills as he can run the offense in the halfcourt and is dangerous pushing the ball off of a rebound as well.

Marcus Garrett could also be elevated from his two-way contract and focus on developing his point guard skills, which he showed collegiately at Kansas during his final two seasons there.
Josh Green is someone that the Heat would love to get their hands on. He has the potential to develop into a good 3-and-D player, but he hasn’t had a chance at consistent rotation minutes in Dallas.

The Heat have an excellent track record of developing unheralded wing players; imagine what they could do with someone that has the draft pedigree of Green, who was selected in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft. Learning from Jimmy Butler would certainly help him along.
