How This Trade Impacts Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls came into the offseason looking to swing a deal that was centered around Coby White and draft compensation. They wanted to upgrade their rotation while also likely trying to avoid adding any more money to their salary, as White is eligible for an extension this offseason.
White is a solid combo guard, but the Bulls have more affordable options that can fill that role off the bench. Dalen Terry was selected in the first round this season and is more affordable. Veteran Goran Dragic was also signed in free agency, and Ayo Dosunmu is still on the roster after a good rookie campaign.
That is a good amount of depth in the backcourt, especially when you consider how much of the offense is run through DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine anyway.
Lonzo Ball’s health could be a deterrent in moving White, as his rehab is going much slower than anticipated. But, to combat that, the Bulls pick up more depth in this trade.

Frank Ntilikina is a solid emergence option at the point guard position. While his offensive game has yet to come along, he is an above-average defender with some versatility with the ability to defend both backcourt spots and some wings.
Josh Green provides the team with a potential two-way performer on the wing. Listed at 6’5” but possessing a 6’10” wingspan, Green should be able to defend at least two or three positions with success. He showed some of that potential knocking down 35.9 percent of his attempts last season.

The two second-round picks may not seem like much, but when you have traded away as much draft capital as the Bulls have, any picks are good. Chicago only has four second-round picks and 10 overall through 2029 at their disposal.
