How This Trade Impacts Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks have to find a way to replace Jalen Brunson but they are short on options. Armed with only veteran’s minimum deals after using their mid-level exception on JaVale McGee and Jaden Hadry, free agency likely isn’t a realistic option.
Dallas could hope that Hardy emerges during his rookie season, combined with Tim Hardaway Jr. off the bench and Spencer Dinwiddie in the starting lineup. But, to add a little insurance to the roster, the Mavericks could poke around on Coby White.
White is readily available as the Bulls look to reshape the depth on their roster. He would be a solid fit for the Mavericks’ game plan as a combo guard that can run the offense in a pinch and plays well off the ball.
In his career, White has knocked down 36.5 percent of his 3-point attempts, including a career-high 38.5 percent last season.

With the Mavericks lineup getting bigger with the inclusion of Chrisitan Wood and JaVale McGee, there may not be any room in the rotation for Josh Green with Dorian Finney-Smith potentially logging more minutes at the small forward spot with Reggie Bullock. So, he is included to help shore up the backcourt.
Frank Ntilikina is currently slated to be the backup point guard, a role that White could slide into seamlessly if Spencer Dinwiddie lands the starting job alongside Luka Doncic.
