Indiana Pacers Receive: G/F Gary Trent Jr.
Toronto Raptors Receive: C Myles Turner
Expanding on the concept of players as dominoes, Myles Turner was probably bracing himself for a drop when Ayton signed the Pacers’ max offer sheet.
The fall never came. Now, the situation between Turner and this Pacers’ front office stands to get awkward. Turner knows his team would turn him in for a younger model given the opportunity.
We don’t mean to criticize the Pacers. They’re in the early stages of a rebuild, and Turner is 27. It would be in the best interests of both the player and the organization to find Turner a new NBA home.
The Toronto Raptors feel like a nice fit. They spent much of 2021-22 without a real starting caliber, big man. Turner’s rim protection would enhance their defense, while his ability to space the floor would allow them to retain the same offensive structure they had last season.

Meanwhile, the Pacers should be happy to land a strong 3-and-D guard in Trent Jr. At 23, he’s closer to this team’s rebuilding timeline. He’d make a great backcourt partner for Tyrese Haliburton, and if Benedict Mathurin pans out, Trent Jr could play a sixth-man role, spending some minutes alongside each at the 3 in three-guard lineups.
