2. Kris Dunn
Every year during Summer League there are a few veterans that find their way onto rosters hoping to parlay their performances into a training camp invite. If things go well, they can play their way onto the regular-season roster.
One of those veterans taking part this year in that capacity is Kris Dunn. Dunn was selected No. 5 overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2016 NBA Draft out of Providence. He was traded to the Chicago Bulls heading into his second year in the NBA as part of the Jimmy Butler deal but has struggled to find a home since his rookie deal ran out.
Dunn is a capable playmaker and strong defender at the point guard spot, but his inability to develop a jump shot is what has held him back. However, it is a bit odd that he hasn’t been able to latch on anywhere as a third point guard given his strengths as a table-setter and the impact he can have defensively.
He had a cup of tea with the Portland Trail Blazers last season, appearing in 14 games, starting three of them. Dunn will be playing with the Washington Wizards this season, who could use some depth at the point guard position.

If he plays well, he could earn himself a chance to make the final roster in October with the Wizards. Dunn is entering his prime at 28 years old but is likely running out of chances to make an NBA roster.
