5. Shaedon Sharpe
The Portland Trail Blazers used the No. 7 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft on Shaedon Sharpe out of Kentucky. He isn’t on this list because there is a chance he doesn’t make the team’s roster coming out of training camp. Instead, he is on here just because there is so much mystery surrounding him.
Sharpe enrolled at Kentucky but didn’t play a single minute with the Wildcats after re-classifying to join early. The last time we saw Sharpe play was in high school when he played in the Nike EYBL and averaged 22.6 points per game.
While Sharpe came on strong during the end of his high school career, this is a major step up in competition that he is taking. He will receive plenty of playing time at Summer League and it will be interesting to see how he holds up against the highest level of competition he has ever seen.
There is a lot to like about Sharpe as he is a big, long shooting guard standing 6’5” with a nearly 7-foot wingspan. He has all of the tools to become a two-way performer at the next level, will he be able to realize it with Portland?
